After passing through Russia , we'll change gears and go on a road trip through Latin America. Latin American cinema is very rich and complex, and it was difficult for us to choose just one country, so we will look at cinema from the whole region through a common theme: travel films. So, we offer you this collection of seven road movies set in Latin America , so you can go on a trip without leaving home and be encouraged to visit new corners of the planet!
1. Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
We start with a film by Walter Salles starring Gael García Bernal and Rodrigo de la Serna Chevalier. In this biographical film we travel through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela guided by Che Email Address List Guevara and Alberto Granado . The two young friends embark on a journey from Buenos Aires by motorbike with the aim of getting to know the continent. This journey will take them to towns and regions they did not know, and thanks to this they will become aware of the injustices and marked differences between social classes that still affect the region. The film is based on the travel notes that Che wrote between 1951 and 1952 .
Gael García Bernal also stars, along with Diego Luna and Maribel Verdú, in this classic of Latin American cinema . Luisa is a depressed Spanish woman who goes on a trip to the coast of Mexico with two Mexican teenagers, Tenoch and Julio. Throughout the journey we see how, little by little, the tensions and conflicts between the two teenagers accumulate and the journey ends up changing their lives. This film is directed by Alfonso Cuarón , who recently won his second Oscar for best director for Roma , a film set in 1970s Mexico that is also well worth seeing.
